Hi, I’m Umashree Taparia — a gouache & watercolor artist, art educator, and dreamer who believes that creativity can change lives.
My journey into the world of art wasn’t something I planned. In 2020, when the world slowed down, I picked up my brushes after years of setting them aside. What started as a quiet escape during uncertain times soon blossomed into a deep, lifelong love affair with painting.
At that time, I was still living the life I had built around my Chartered Accountancy degree — logical, structured, predictable.
But somewhere between the vibrant pigments and the stillness of creating, I realized that art wasn’t just a hobby for me.
It was home. It was healing. It was who I was always meant to be.
I traded spreadsheets and numbers for colors and brushes.
And today, art is not just a passion — it’s what I do for a living. It’s what fills my days with purpose, joy, and an endless sense of wonder.
My mission remains simple: To make art approachable. To show that creativity isn’t reserved for the "talented" — it’s a birthright, a homecoming for every soul who dares to begin.
Motherhood has deepened this journey even more.
My little boy, just a year old, already admires what his mom does.
The moment he sees my paints and brushes, he comes running — tiny hands grabbing a brush, dipping it into water, dabbing joyfully onto my sketchbooks and tables.
And strangely, those are the moments when I don't mind losing my most precious sketchbooks or brushes — because watching him create reminds me why I began: for the love of it, the joy of it, the freedom of it.
More than anything, I want to be an inspiration for him.

I want him to know that dreams are worth chasing — that you must never hesitate to take that first step. Because when you follow your heart, everything has a way of working itself out.
This journey, this life I've built with colors and courage, is my living proof.
